You are worth it.

When was the last time you took a big belly breath?
When was the last time you said how proud of yourself you are?
When was the last time you allowed yourself permission to feel those deep feelings lurking underneath?

These are questions I had to ask myself recently. I somehow   let a lot of things that light me up and support me slip slowly away over the past few years. I didn’t do it consciously, none of us do. It often happens ever so slowly.

Eventually either our mind or body tell us. If we don’t listen to our mind and keep shrugging it off, then the body will subtly start talking to us, an ache here, a health hurdle there, until finally something happens where you just have to completely stop.

This happened me, twice in two years! Time to listen. I used to teach Yoga, Pilates and massage. I was teaching regularly and when you teach mindful movement, you automatically take it in. Remember, the teacher often benefits just as much as the student. I believe mindful movement teachers teach because they need it themselves. We ALL need time, self-awareness, connection to intuition, nutrition and movement that is right for our body.

For me, once I stopped teaching these amazing tools, I let my own practise and good habits slip. My body soon told me I needed to take it back on again. I can’t believe I left it so long!!

So, if you happen to be like me and you feel the need to lift yourself up, to look after yourself a little more, to allow yourself to release some deep-rooted emotions, to let some control go, know you are not alone. Busyness is often a mask for ignoring some deep-rooted feelings that need to be addressed. People can feel uncomfortable in the quiet, on their own, slowing down. Perhaps it’s exactly what they need?

Solas Products are my creative outlet, one of my babies, my mindfulness, while I navigate a full-time job, of which I’m very grateful for, a renovation, family life and being away from grandparents and relations. I’m aware all of this will change however, if you are in a similar position, remember we do need tools to help us.

What has helped me, which may help you are the following:

  • Having a creative outlet -Solas
  • Having a good friend to talk to.
  • Emotional work – I have recently started EFT which I have found so amazing to do every morning before the kids wake. It is also known as Tapping. I will write more on this in my next blog.
  • Movement every day. I love cardio and lots of it but recently I have moved to more nurturing movements such as walking, slow jog, pilates, breath work and yoga. Some ladies I love to follow for fabulous free classes are : Yoga with Adrianne or Boho Beautiful. Boho Beautiful provide a free 14 day yoga program too which is great. You can find these ladies on Youtube easily.
  • YIN YOGA- one of my passions. It is not for everyone as it is a very, almost no movement, yoga however it is the best one for me to ease my nervous system. This is great for evenings.
  • Reducing coffee
  • Increasing warm nourishing beverages such as herbals teas and turmeric milks. Check out www.boomyogaroom.com.au/blog/golden-goodness for a great tumeric paste recipe to have in your fridge and simply add to warm milk..
  • Nourishing homemade food. You are worth making it for.

There are so many other ways we can support ourselves. I just encourage you not to leave it until your body makes you stop. We all do it, so if it does happen to you, don’t beat yourself up. Simply notice, allow yourself to feel and take little steps to get back on track. I’m right there with you. Plus, if you do happen to have a Solas Product, remember to please take a deep inhale when you are applying, say a nice mantra to yourself such as ‘I give myself permission to heal inside and out,’ on your exhale allow anywhere your body that is holding tension to relax and finally, notice the effects on your body and mind.

We are worth it. You are worth it. I am worth it.

Hi, I’m Daphne, a teacher, a mother, a movement lover, a masseuse and creator of Solas Essentials. We are made up of many parts and we each have a story leading to now.  Every day has challenges for us all no matter how ‘perfect’ one may look online.

I would love to help bring more mindful moments into your busy day through awareness of how we move and breathe, through the products we use and through the power of touch and essential oils. As I help others I help myself so let’s all work together to create the best day we can. I’m looking forward to hearing from you or sending you some gorgeous products you may treat yourself to.
